Thompson Merges Five State Hoops into Jr All-Star

Jr All-Star is extremely excited to announce the addition of Chuck Thompson to our team.  Chuck’s very successful Five State Hoops business will be merged into Jr. All-Star’s Court Report.

“I am glad to be part of the growing Jr All-Star lineup. This move will allow me to focus more on doing the coverage I enjoy, instead of splitting my time between coverage and administration.  I look forward to the nearby opportunity to cover girls’ basketball in Minnesota, and for the expanded opportunities as Jr All-Star becomes increasingly prominent at the regional and national level.” -Chuck Thompson

Over the last five years Thompson led Five State Hoops, a company he founded, to national prominence. He is well respected by college coaches around the country, and there is a general is a buzz in the gym by club coaches, high school coaches, players, and parents whenever Chuck attends a game.

Chuck will start out as a main contributor to Jr All-Star’s Court Report Minnesota, while writing occasionally on the Wisconsin page. Eventually we plan to tap into Chuck’s vast knowledge of the region by introducing Jr All-Star into more states and having him contribute to other states as well.

Thompson is a coaching veteran with 20 years of high school coaching experience including three stints as a varsity head coach.  In 2011 he helped lead St. Cloud Apollo to the MSHSL State Tournament.  He also spent many summers coaching AAU basketball during that time and led three MN Comets AAU teams to top 5 finishes at the MN AAU State Championships.

Chuck’s wife, Becky, is a professor at St. Cloud State University. They live in the St. Cloud area with their three children, Lexie, Grace, and Isaac.

Jr All-Star is a platform for the promotion of girls’ basketball.  That is done through media, rankings, team events, and individual showcases. Currently Jr All-Star has Court Report pages in the markets of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northern California, and Southern California. If you have interest in contributing to those markets or in additional markets, please email us at
